Amy Lyn (Turner) Miller, of Halsey Valley, NY, passed peacefully in the arms of The Lord on February 16, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 50 after a nine month battle with cancer. Amy Lyn was born on March 16, 1973 in Elmira, NY, and adopted on March 28, 1974. Amy Lyn is survived by Dennis, her beloved husband of 25 years, her adoptive parents Andy and Sherry Turner, her adoptive sister Laura (Turner) Preston, her birth mother Gloria Talada and her half-sister Michelle Stone, along with several nieces and grand-nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her eight beloved fur-babies.
Amy Lyn earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Elmira College and taught in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia before becoming disabled. She was an active member of DAR, and for the past fifteen years, Amy Lyn and Dennis lived on the road, traveling full-time for work and going on great adventures that took them to all 50 states.
Amy Lyn was 18 when she developed type 1 diabetes. She survived two heart attacks, a stroke and a rare lung disorder, but that did not stop her from pushing on to experience as much life as she could, even after her cancer diagnosis. After her stroke, Amy Lyn had difficulties with memory and knew her photographs would become her memories long after she forgot the places they traveled. The more health became an issue, the more Amy wanted to travel and her photography went from memory-making to a profession. Amy Lyn entertained many doctors and nurses in her hospitalizations. Her photographs mesmerized them and many hours of story-telling about grand journeys let her relive her adventures.
Amy Lyn does not want to be remembered for cancer or her other health issues. She wants to be remembered for her restless and adventurous spirit, her love of travel, her pets and her photography. She is finally free of pain and in a new, perfect, body in Christ.

February 20, 2024

Amy was a wonderful friend to our daughter, Christina, all through school. Life has taken them in different directions since high school but they have continued their friendship thru the internet. We are so glad that Amy was able to travel and experience so many adventures in her short lifetime. She was an amazing friend to our daughter when she really needed a good friend and for that we will always be grateful. Nick and Mary Klym
