Julie Setzer, a radiant spirit whose laughter, love, and light touched so many hearts, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Lyons, Oregon. She was born on October 30, 1967, in Portland, Oregon, to Geneva and Joel Martin.
Julie grew up in the Willamette Valley and graduated from Stayton High School. Over the years, she made her home in Stayton, Mt. Hood, and since 2010, in Mill City, Oregon, a place that perfectly reflected her love of nature, peace, and community.
On October 19, 2013, Julie married the love of her life, Grady Setzer, at the beautiful Timberline Lodge. Together they shared a journey filled with laughter, music, and a deep devotion to family and faith. Julie was a proud and loving mother to Jade Amanda, Emilee, Donovan, and Greg Anthony Jr., and a grandmother to Charlie, Henry, Addison, and Axel. Her family was the heart of her world, and she poured her boundless compassion and creativity into every part of their lives.
Julie was the owner and guiding light of Jewels Mystic Mountain Yoga in Gates, Oregon, where she inspired countless people through her gentle spirit and vibrant energy. She often said of her yoga community:
“So many things to love about Yoga and Yoga enthusiasts! I enjoy my time on the mat with great people who inspire me every time we get together! But one of the best parts of the entire experience is the laughter! To hear it and to experience it is so wonderful and exhilarating! I can’t think of a time since I have been practicing that I haven’t had a good laugh! And laughter is Good Medicine! I have fallen in love with my Yoga Clan and you know ya’ll crazy!”
These words capture Julie perfectly that are joyful, open-hearted, and endlessly encouraging.
A woman of many talents, Julie was also a gifted singer and pianist. Her music filled every room with warmth and joy, much like her presence did in life.
She is survived by her beloved husband Grady, her cherished children, Jade Amanda, Emilee, Greg and Anthony, Jr. and grandchildren, Charlie, Henry, Addison, and Axel; her mother Geneva, and her siblings James, Pamela, Suzie, Kimberly, Brandy, Richie, and Tom. She was preceded in death by her son Donovan Brock and her father-in-law Lewis Setzer, whom she loved dearly.
Julie’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Weddle Funeral Service, with inurnment to follow at Fox Valley Cemetery.
Julie will be remembered for her laughter, her kindness, her deep empathy, and the way she made everyone around her feel seen and loved. Though her earthly journey has ended, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her — in every sunrise over the mountains, every note of music, and every burst of laughter shared among friends.
