An Rung "John" Tang, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Foxborough, surrounded by the

comfort of his loving family on Friday, July 11, 2025. He was the son of the late You-Wen and Shu-Lan

Tang.

John was born on March 21, 1949, in Chengdu, China. When John was only a couple of years old, the

family moved to Taiwan as they fled the rise of the Communist party in China. He grew up and went to

school in Tainan. At the age of 17, John left school because it was expensive and became a sailor,

traveling to places as far as Africa and India, performing trade while avoiding military conflict with

China.

John immigrated to the United States in 1976. He landed in Maryland and began working in the restaurant

industry, searching for a brighter future for his family that was in Taiwan. He eventually settled in

Massachusetts, where he and his father opened Cheng Du Restaurant in Mansfield followed by

Westborough, Stoughton, and Seekonk. Later, he opened Eo Noodle in Framingham with his brother Kuo

Rung, where he worked for over 20 years until retirement. As a restaurant owner and chef for most of his

life, John always ensured that his family was well taken care of. He often worked 70+ hours a week and

was still able to spend time with his family, taking his sons on trips every Sunday and weekly family

dinners with his brothers and sisters.

John embodied stoicism. He never complained about difficult situations that he encountered, even

towards the end as he battled cancer and lung disease. John was the person that people could always count

on and provided safety to his wife and sons.

Devoted husband of Lorraine (Darcy) Tang. Loving father of Raymond Tang and his wife Jenny of

Malden and Johnathon Tang of San Diego, CA. Brother of Shen-Jung (Ann) Booth of FL, Kuo-Rung

Tang of Southborough, Chieh Tang of Norton, and the late Lei Tang and Ti "Sonny" Tang.
