Anderson Adams Jr., lovingly known as "Dubey" went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Born on April 22, 1967, in New London, Connecticut, Dubey was raised by his devoted parents, the late Bishop Anderson Adams Sr. and First Lady Irene Adams. His early years were filled with love, guidance, and the strong values that shaped who he was.
He completed his high school journey at John P. Stevens High School in Edison, N.J., where he found his passion for football and shined as a defensive tackle. His love for the game continued as he pursued a degree in Business Administration from Upsala College in East Orange, NJ.
Dubey's upbringing at Mt. Zion U.F.W. Baptist Church in Edison, NJ, where his father served as pastor, instilled in him a deep sense of faith and community. He found joy in playing the drums for the choir. While attending Upsala College, Dubey became a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., crossing over as number "5" on the Spring '90 line of the Iota Rho Chapter. His involvement with the chapter deeply influenced his values, fostering a spirit of brotherhood and leadership that he carried
throughout his life.
During the summer of 1990, Dubey met his future wife Tameka, and they were married in 1995. Together, they built a loving family, settling in Essex County. Dubey then embarked on a career as a probation officer for Essex County Courts in Newark, New Jersey. His dedication to helping others led him to enter the police academy, where he became a corrections officer for the State of New Jersey. He and his wife were able to move their family to Gloucester Township, creating a warm and nurturing
home for their children.
Dubey was a true sports fanatic and a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. His enthusiasm for sports allowed him to connect with many friends, often engaging in lively discussions about team stats and proudly chanting the "How 'bout Dem Cowboys". In addition to his love for sports, Dubey loved cooking on the grill, perfecting his skills over the years. His hospitality was evident in the way he hosted cookouts at his home, sharing these joyful moments with family and friends.
An extrovert by nature, Dubey had a unique ability to connect and maintain friendships. From his high school and college friends to the barbershop and his frat brothers Dubey nurtured relationships and made people feel like they were his family. His boisterous and outgoing personality made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Dubey is preceded in death by his father Bishop Anderson Adams Sr., his mother Irene Adams, brother-in-law, Darryl Roberts, and nephew Ryan Duncan. He leaves to cherish his wife of 30 years, Tameka Adams, his children: Jené Bria Adams, Maia Adams, Derek Adams, Kiara Cleveland (Josh), and Ka'bre Dennis, his brother Darren Andrew Adams (Ericka), his sister Lisa Roberts, his brothers-in-law Wade Duncan (Saundra) and Torrence Hodge, and a host of nieces and nephews and an endless list of family and friends.
