Andre Jules Bourdet Jr., 87, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 21, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, Andre was the son of the late Andre Sr. and Emily Higgins Bourdet. He married the love of his life, Anne Hickey, on June 8, 1963, in St. Louis, and together they built a life filled with faith, love, and kindness. A graduate of Chaminade College Preparatory (1956) and the University of Dayton (1960), Andre embodied the Marianist commitment to community and service, actively supporting St. Vincent de Paul while a parishioner of Saint Gerard Majella Parish in Valley Park.
A devoted father, Andre is survived by his daughters, Mimi (Bill) Otten of Louisville, Kentucky, and Emily (Deke) Busse of Chicago, Illinois as well as his loving extended family, Charlie (Devan) Otten, Ben Otten, Lucy, Heidi, and Sophie Otten. He was a proud grandfather to Kate (Jack) Connor and John O'Malley and found great joy as a great-grandfather to Michael Connor. He was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Suzanne Costello and Beverly Trout Kennedy.
Andre's faith was the cornerstone of his life. In Louisville, he was a member of St. Bernadette Parish, and prior to his move to Kentucky, he was a former member of St. Clare of Assisi, St. Gerard Magella, and Our Lady of Lourdes parishes. His faith guided his life and unwavering spirit.
Andre will be remembered for his kind heart, steadfast values, and the love he shared with his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul and White House Retreat, honoring his lifelong commitment to helping others.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Louis, Missouri to celebrate Andre's life and legacy. Burial will take place at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 26 from 10:00 am until the start of Mass.
