Andres Zapata Diego, 55, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, February 9, 2024, at Emory University Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Justin McCrimmon officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Diego was born October 29, 1968, in Vera Cruz, Mexico, to the late Jorje Diego & Maria Zapata. He worked in construction and was a God-fearing man. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Family came first to him and spending time with his grandchildren was very important to him. He loved to fish, watch baseball, and enjoyed the food in Mexico. He was very close to his mother. He attended CrossPointe Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Wyona Allen Diego of Fitzgerald; children: Frances Diego of Mexico, Abalene Maria Guadalupe Diego Gallegos & Alvin of Fitzgerald, Santiago Andres Diego of Fitzgerald, and Britney Denise Hernandez & Ruben of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Victoria Hernandez, Mariana Hernandez, Adrian Hernandez, Tania Diego, Gabriel Gallegos, Ezarkel Gallegos, and Adiel Gallegos; and siblings: Jorje, Francisco, Susanna, Maria, Cecilio, Armando, Jose, Eduardo, and Ermalinda. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings: Lupe & Santiago.
Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
