Andrew “Jay” Anders

October 19, 1952 – May 30, 2025

Jay was born in Nebraska to Robert and Ellen (Gustafson) Anders. His father was a member of the United States Air Force, so Jay lived in many places during his life, including Germany, Australia, and all over the United States. However, his favorite place was in Colorado. He loved the family home near Idaho Springs and enjoyed traveling and spending time in “his” mountains.

Interbank Financial Services was Jay’s business in which he sold Health and Life insurance. Most of his clients were in the Denver metro area, although he had some as far north as Estes Park and south to Pueblo. Unfortunately, Jay was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, among other health issues, and had to sell his business in 2008. He spent the last six years of his life in nursing homes.

Jay married Cindy Anderson in 1975, and they had one son, David. They lived in Tucson until their divorce, when Jay moved to Denver. In 1999, Jay met and married Sue VanderLoop. They were married for 23 years.

Faith was very important to Jay. He was a member of Grace Christian Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado for over 20 years. While there, he made many good friends with whom he enjoyed playing chess and cards. Jay was also a big sports fan. His favorite teams were the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. He was able to attend games in person for both teams as well as the Denver Nuggets.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ellen, and his first wife Cindy. He is survived by his son David (Angelica) Anders, his grandchildren Amira Anders and Matthew Waters, his sister Sandi Wilson, his two brothers Bruce Anders and Roy Anders, and his second wife Sue Anders, along with many aunts and cousins.

The family would like to extend their thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at TRU PACE, The Peaks Care Center, and Cherrelyn Healthcare Center. Your dedicated care and concern are greatly appreciated.
