Andrew “Andy” Obren, age 94 of Goshen, passed away on March 27, 2026, at Holy Cross Rehabilitation Center in South Bend. Andy was born January 16, 1932, in South Bend, Indiana to the late George and Elsie (Savich) Obren. He joined the US Air Force in 1949 and served honorably until his discharge in 1952. On April 26, 1968, he married Arlene Doolittle in Mishawaka, and they celebrated over 55 years of marriage before her passing in June of 2023.
He is survived by his son Kirk (Cathy) Obren of Edwardsburg, Michigan and his brother, Fred Obren of Mishawaka, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Susie Obren and Debbie Obren, and his siblings, Rose Harlow, Violet Millage, Mitzi Goethals, Peter Obren, Steve Obren, George Obren Jr., Nicholas Obren and Anna Obren as well as his stepsisters Donna Bickel and Joan Kovachevich.
Andy was employed for many years as the head supervisor and receiver at Skyline and Coachmen before his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed building model railroads, working on his computer, and traveling with Arlene throughout the US. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors in his beautiful flower gardens and raising fresh vegetables, as well as watching the hummingbirds at the feeders he kept. Andy and Arlene enjoyed woodworking in thier garage, and they built numerous birdhouses for others to enjoy.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Friday, April 3, 2026, at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home in Mishawaka. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 12pm funeral service on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Wells and Cruz Family Funeral Home with interment to follow in Olive Cemetery East.
