It is with both sorrow and gratitude that we announce the unexpected passing of Andrew "Andy" L. Barth, of Hamilton, who left us on February 9, 2025, at the age of 49. Born to Louis and Dorothy Barth, on January 30, 1976, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Andy was a child of the earth, raised on the family farm, where he cultivated a passion for life and exploration that would follow him throughout his journey.
A proud graduate of William Henry Harrison High School in 1994, Andy's thirst for knowledge led him to the University of Cincinnati, where he pursued his passion for engineering with a particular love for space. It was during his studies that he met Stephanie Bingle, a freshman in need of academic support, and it was this serendipitous encounter that blossomed into a beautiful partnership. On July 12, 2003, they celebrated their love with a joyous wedding, embarking on a lifetime filled with adventure and shared dreams.
Andy's career was a testament to his commitment and passion for aerospace engineering, significantly contributing to NASA. Working for the Hernandez Engineering Inc and Lockheed Martin on many projects for NASA. His excitement for the stars shone brightly as he dedicated his life to advancing autonomous capabilities for space robotics. He had a gift of teaching others and made the decision to pursue his PhD in Aerospace Engineering at University of Cincinnati, graduating in 2024. After graduation he accepted a role as an Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati, where he was looking forward to helping others reaching their dreams in Engineering.
Andy's spirit was reflected in his diverse interests; whether hiking, biking, horseback riding, or tending to his farm, he embraced the outdoors with enthusiasm that was contagious. A devoted fan of Cincinnati sports, he enjoyed cheering on his teams–the Bearcats, FC Cincinnati, the Bengals, and the Reds–sharing this passion with family and friends.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and joy, cherished by his wife, Stephanie (nee Bingle) Barth; devoted mother, Dorothy (nee Weldishofer) Barth; in-laws, Jill and Bill Bingle; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Barth and Weldishofer families.
Andy is preceded in death by his father: Louis Barth.
