Andrew "Andy" C. Davis, a man of Christian faith and boundless warmth, departed from this world on September 20, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL, succumbing to congestive heart failure at the age of 68. Born on August 27, 1957, in Santa Ana, CA, Andy was a beacon of light to his family and all who knew him, radiating the love and wisdom that defined his character. Andy's early life was rooted in the sunny climes of California, but his journey took him across the country, where he eventually settled down with his beloved wife, Lisa J. (Medsker) Davis. Together, they raised a family that grew to include their cherished sons, Andrew Scott (Ren) Davis of Alton, IL, and Matthew John (Haley) Dutot of Charleston, IL. Andy's legacy as a loving patriarch continued with the joy of his life, his grandson Levi Damien Andrew Dutot. The warmth of Andy's family extended to his siblings, who shared in the richness of his life: brother Terrell Rueschoff; and sisters Mary Susan Wurtz, Rebecca Hinkle, Cindy Scalf, Jeannie Wurtz, and Nancy Geisler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Gilbert Davis and Mary Lou (Wurtz) Davis, who instilled in him the values of hard work and the importance of family. Andy's educational journey concluded with his high school graduation in Nebraska in 1975, a milestone that propelled him into a career that would span various roles and locations. His professional life was spent in the Manufactured Home industry in Alabama, where his handy nature and friendly demeanor made him a valuable asset. However, as health challenges emerged, Andy's resilience shone through as he transitioned to the environmental services division at Crawford Memorial Hospital in
Robinson, IL. His dedication to his work remained steadfast until he retired, a testament to his unwavering work ethic despite physical restrictions.
A lifelong Christian, Andy lived his faith through his actions and kindness towards others. His love for music, particularly the soulful strains of Classic Country and Classic Rock, was a testament to his appreciation for the poetry and stories woven into melodies. Andy's wise counsel, friendly smile, and handy skills made him an indispensable part of his community and a treasured friend. In remembering Andy, we are reminded of the words of the Psalmist, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). His spirit, now free from earthly constraints, continues to inspire us to live with compassion and integrity. Charles Andrew Davis leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and friendship. He navigated life's joys and sorrows with a steadfast faith and an open heart, touching lives and leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he met. As we bid farewell to Andy, we hold close the memories of his laughter, his counsel, and his unwavering presence in our lives. He will be deeply missed, but the lessons he taught us and the love he shared will continue to guide us until we meet again.
