With hearts full of loving memories, we celebrate the life of Andrew Douglas Dillon, born January 30, 1979, in Midland, TX, who left us on July 27, 2024. Andrew, a cherished husband, father, son, and friend, was a beacon of joy, compassion, and creativity. His love for life was infectious and his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Andrew was a man of many talents. From an early age, his artistic abilities shone through, winning awards for his paintings and showcasing his extraordinary talent as a percussionist. His creative spirit didnt stop there. Andrew also had a passion for woodworking, a skill he polished throughout high school, earning him multiple awards. Andrew's love for sports was unwavering, whether it was cheering on the Cowboys, Rangers, Stars, or Mavericks. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing and running. A spiritual man, Andrew found solace and strength in his Christian faith. He was baptized in 1979 at FUMC Midland, TX, and maintained an active involvement in various churches throughout his life. Sheldon Johnson, one of Andrew's pastors played an important role as a spiritual mentor. Another spiritual influence on Andrew was Pastor Charles Swindoll. Andrew faithfully listened to his messages each Sunday once he became sick and could no longer attend. Andrew would occasionally go with Robin and the children to Milestone. A reminder that describes Andrew's battle, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7) This verse encapsulated Andrew's life, a testament to his faith and perseverance.
Andrew was most proud of being a dad to Stella, Elliott, and Knox. They were his pride and joy. He spent hours teaching them all the lessons of life he wanted them to know. He made time to attend all their activities and events. Boating, tubing, baseball, biking, soccer, and watching sports were just a few of the activities he made sure they did together. Andrew always made time to attend plays, band concerts, and awards assemblies.
Andrew and Robin met at age 4, staying at the same day care. They attended kindergarten through 12th grade together in McCamey, true childhood sweethearts. They started dating at age 16 and married in 2002. Andrew and Robin celebrated 22 years of marriage on July 13th. Traveling and their beloved Boxers were their lives until their children changed their lives forever. Andrew and Robin loved spending time with their 3 children.
Andrew is lovingly remembered by his wife, Robin Dillon; children, Stella, Elliott, and Knox Dillon; mother, Cytha Peters; step-mother, Lisa Dillon; uncle, Joe Moore; cousins, James, Jennifer, Janette, Jessica, and Dawson; sister-in-law, Billye with husband Shane Louder, and their children Landry and Reese; brother-in-law, Matt with wife Christy Jones, and their children Cana, Caleb, and Cali; and parents-in-law, Patty and David Jones. Andrew was predeceased by his father, Thomas Dillon; grandparents, Gladys and John Elliott, and Susie and George Dillon; aunt, Olivia Moore; and cousin, Tamara Hansen. Andrew shared a special bond with his Grandmother Gladys.
Andrew's life was a beautiful testament to his strength, kindness, and unwavering faith. He left an indelible mark on everyone he met and will be dearly missed. He was generous with his time and talents, always willing to help a friend, neighbor, or family member. We invite you to share your memories, stories, and pictures of Andrew on his memorial page as we continue to celebrate his remarkable life. His spirit lives on in each shared memory and photo, reminding us all of the love and joy he brought into our lives.
Andrew's family would like to extend a special thanks to T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their care and compassion. We would also like to thank Sanjay Agrawal and the staff at AG&E for their unwavering support and love throughout this journey.
