Andrew Daniel Downey, age 27 of Waukesha, WI, formerly of Milwaukee, WI and Naperville, IL passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023. He was born July 11, 1995 in Downers Grove, IL to his loving parents, Mark and Rosemary Downey of Naperville. Beloved partner of Kasia Mysliwiec. Dearest brother of the late Lucas Downey. Adoring grandparents, Rosemary and the late Daniel Downey, of Joliet, IL and the late John and Dorothy Maloney. Dearest nephew of John (Reen) Maloney, Mary Beth (the late Jack) Kowalski, Monica (Chuck) McQuaid, Eileen (Dave) Fischer, Patricia Maloney, Lucy (Bob) Jones, Maureen Maloney, Mike (Chris) Maloney, Margaret (Steve) Kinsley, Joseph Maloney, and the late Kathleen Maloney, and Bonnie Johnson, Connie (Greg) Steinhouse, Janet (Jim) Marcukaitus, and Tammy (Mario) Trejo. Beloved cousin and friend of many. Missed by his cat, Ziggy. Andy graduated from Marquette University, Milwaukee, receiving his electrical engineering degree, summa cum laude, class of 2017. He worked as an electrical design engineer for Prolec-GE, Waukesha. Andy enjoyed many outdoor activities including skiing, golfing, scuba diving, sailing, fishing, and hiking. Andy was an avid reader and enjoyed contributing to book club. He loved to travel, especially to Hawaii, St. Thomas and northern Wisconsin. Andy's big passion was cooking. He liked nothing better than to make a big meal for a crowd. Music played a big part in Andy's life. He played the trumpet throughout high school and college, and he loved musical theatre. Andy's unique laugh and sweet personality will truly be missed by all who met him. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Andy's name. Visitation: Friday, March 3rd 5:00-6:30 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. Funeral Service to follow at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Andy was a special friend of mine. Although I was an older friend of his Dad, we two would share a golf cart when we played together with our usual golf buddies. We just plain enjoyed each other's company, even though I was 50 years older. Although I haven't seen him for a few years, I will keep his laugh in my memory.
