In Loving Memory Of
Andrew "Lee" Holtrop
Andrew "Lee" Holtrop was born July 11, 1937 at his family home near Sanborn, IA to Fred and Mary (Bosch) Holtrop. Lee attended country school until 2nd grade before attending elementary school in Matlock, IA and going on to graduate from Sheldon High School in 1955. Shortly after high school graduation he went on a blind date and found the love of his life. On February 21, 1958 Lee married Glenda Rae Blok. Lee and Glenda spent the next 67 years together sharing their love with all their family and friends. With Glenda by his side Lee went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 24, 2025 at the age of 87.
Lee worked various jobs growing up and went on to work at the elevator in Matlock, IA until 1960 when he became the hired hand on his father-in-law's farm. Working on his father-in-law's farm led to him farming near Sanborn, IA until he and Glenda purchased a farm near Fulda, MN in 1967. It was here that Lee and Glenda raised their three sons, farming until retiring in 1996. Retirement really wasn't for Lee though and he began driving for People's Express providing specialized transportation from 1997 to 2015.
Lee was strong in his faith and attended various different churches throughout his lifetime. He was active in the church as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Elder, and providing music as a choir member, soloist, and leading a boys quartet. Lee was a charter member of the Fulda Credit Union. He also enjoyed many activities such as fast-pitch softball, bowling, dancing, card club, and visiting with anyone and everyone. Later in life Lee especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He did not spoil them though, that was Glenda's job. He only did special things with them.
Lee is lovingly remembered by his wife, Glenda, three sons, Dennis (Nancy Wiertzema) Holtrop, Donald (Jan) Holtrop, Duane (Jean Smart) Holtrop. Grandchildren: Sarah Deutsch, Dawn (Aaron) Sandbulte, Hansen (Maria Ramirez) Holtrop, Sigrid (Zak) Smart, Ridge (Talyn Curl) Holtrop, Austin (Ashley) Kurtz. Great-Grandchildren: Emma, Andrew, & Jacob Deutsch, Cole (Anai) & Blair Sandbulte, Rylee & Hayden Kurtz. Siblings: Eugene (Doris Freidland) Holtrop, Marilyn Jiskoot, Marcia (Ron) Baumgard and Sister-in-laws: Roberta Morenz, Lavonne Blok, & Karen Grau.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Mary Holtrop, parents-in-law Leonard & Donna Blok, two daughter-in-laws Roxanne Holtrop & Tami Kurtz, brothers-in-law, Rod Jiskoot, Arnie Grau, Leroy Morenz, and Leonard Blok.
As Lee would always say "SMILE TILL WE MEET AGAIN!"
Visitation will be 4 to 6 PM Monday, March 31, 2025 at the Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda.
