Andrew Thomas Hostetter, Sr., passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was born on January 16, 1936, in Bells Valley, Virginia to the late William Edward, Sr. and Lena Martin Hostetter.
“Andy,” as everyone called him, was a member of Parkway Wesleyan Church in Staunton and also attended Victory Worship Center. He was a skilled rock, brick, and block mason—there wasn’t much he couldn’t do. A God-fearing man, Andy was always ready to help others whenever he could. He never met a stranger and was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend.
He deeply loved his family, NASCAR, spending time with those he cared about, working outdoors, and riding motorcycles whenever he had the chance.
Andy was truly one of a kind - one in a million - and he will be dearly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Marple Hostetter; his two brothers, James “Buck” Hostetter, and William “Bill” Hostetter; his two sisters, Mildred Marie Hostetter and Helen Hostetter Burke, and a granddaughter, Jessi Rittenhouse.
Andy’s surviving family includes, a sister, Gracie Virginia Flint; his three daughters, Margaret Hostetter Reid, Kathy Hostetter Cash and her husband, Lee, and Lisa Hostetter Merritt and her husband, Steve; his sons, Andrew “A.T.” Hostetter, Jr. and his wife, Amber and Daniel “Danny” Hostetter and his wife, Cathy; his twelve grandchildren, Andrea, and her husband, Brian, Danielle, Amanda, Amber, Drew and his wife, Tiffany, Heather and her husband, Austin, Samantha and her husband Bryce, Reba, Gabby and her husband, Timmy, Tommy, Sarah and her fiancé, Whitson, Peyton, and Jazmine; his eighteen great-grandchildren, Jay, Maddison and her husband, Spencer, McKensee, Caydence, Aleah, Tarynn, Serenity, Karlee, Kyrie, Karson, Avah, Brailynn, Tania, Branch, Amazely, Monty, Kohen, and Dawson; his great-great-grandchildren, Emilya, Jedidiah, Huxton, and Aiden.; and his special friend, Lori Steele.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Parkway Wesleyan Church in Staunton.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Parkway Wesleyan Church in Staunton with Pastor Adam Watts officiating.
Entombment will immediately follow at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
Serving as pallbearers will be Drew Cash, Tommy Merritt, Jay Cox, Brian Howdyshell, Bryce Arbogast, Whitson Emory, Timmy Miller, Austin Howard, and Jeff Morris.
