Andrew Lach, Jr
Torrington- Andrew S. Lach, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Valerie Manor, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of 64 years of Joan E. (Ruzbasan) Lach.
Mr. Lach was born in Torrington on April 20, 1933, son of the late Andrew S. Lach, Sr., and Susan (Grinvalsky) Lach, and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a U.S. Army Korean Conflict Veteran and a retired Tool and Die Maker at Pratt and Whitney, retiring with 37 years of service. Andy was an active communicant of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington. He was a Communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church, where he served as a proud volunteer at the annual Sacred Heart Church Picnics, serving as coordinator and cooking his famous sausage and peppers. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served as an officer in Solidarity Council #55 and member of the Pratt and Whitney Retirees Club. Mr. Lach was an avid bowler, playing in the Migeon Ave and North End Duck Pin Bowling Leagues. He loved gardening, the outdoors, his Ford Ranger, was an avid Dodgers and Knicks fan, and loved to tailgate at UConn Football games. His passion for golf kept him active in the Eastwoods Retirement League. Mr. Lach enjoyed many trips to California for the Pebble Beach AT&T Pro-Am and Concours d' Elegance. He could be found keeping fit at Nautilus Fitness or having breakfast at Tony's with his friends up until most recently. Andy was a very giving and generous person, always finding the positive in life and putting others before himself. His Catholic Faith was his rock, praying the Rosary daily. A giant of a man despite his physical stature. Memories meant a lot to Andy, especially yearly trips to Wildwood, Lake George, and excursions throughout New England. His only granddaughter, Mia, was his "little buddy". He was gifted with 19 years of memories, watching her grow into a young lady he was so proud of. Finally, in the words of Andy, "Take it Easy"

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Joan, include two daughters, Susan Lach of Manchester and Cathie Mastrogiovanni and her husband, Matthew, of Torrington; a granddaughter, Mia K. Mastrogiovanni of Torrington; a special friend, Al Sondrini of Torrington; special neighbors, Mike and Linda Rovero, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lach was predeceased by a brother, Robert S. Lach; a brother-in-law, Donald Emmanuel; and a special cousin, Bernard "Bernie" Lach.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Peter's Church, 107 E. Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
