Andrew Maglione, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, in
Raleigh, NC, at the age of 90. Born on September 1934 to Steve and Laura Maglione in Staten Island, New York, Andy lived a life marked by dedication to his family and to God.
In 1954, Andy married Marjorie Austin, and together they built a close family. After their first two children were born, Andy and Margie moved to Somerset County, New Jersey, where their other three children were born. They moved to Edenton, North Carolina, in 1971, where they finished raising their family before moving to Raleigh in 1982. It was in the Raleigh/Youngsville area that Andrew spent his remaining years with his family.
Andy's professional career was marked by excellence, industriousness, and reliability as he used his mind and hands to machine parts for Mack trucks, run switching locomotives, cut meat for a high-end butcher shop, build houses, and maintain the machines and facilities of a circuit board production plant. He had a talent for keeping things running smoothly, and he could fix almost anything.
Outside of work, Andy was a dedicated husband and loving father. He patiently included his children in his tasks around the house, to the extent that they were interested. This provided him ample opportunity to impart his skills and wisdom to them. Later, Andy found joy in helping his adult children with their various projects. Whether it was with home repairs and renovations, or farming, farm animals and horses, or anything involving tractors, power and hand tools, Ford Mustangs and chillin' by the Chowan, Andy was always ready to lend a hand, benefitting them by sharing his expertise.
Andy's life was also marked by study of the Bible and faith in God as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Even in his last few hours, he was able to express his strong faith in God's Kingdom (Matthew 6:9,10), the blessings it will bring (Revelations 21:3-5, Psalm 37:10,11), and his sure hope that he will too enjoy those blessings. (John 5:28,29)
Andy is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie; his siblings Janet T. of Clyde, NC, Phyllis B. of Santa Ana, CA, and Steve of Dallas, GA; his children Andy Jr. of Mebane, NC, Laurie A. of Edenton, NC, Steve of
Raleigh, NC, Leila L. of Edenton, NC, and Kim R. of Mebane, NC. He also leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren Christina, Dustin, Robin, Stephanie, Matthew, Dave, Ian, Katie, and Anna, as well as his great- grandchildren Genieve, Luke, Riley, Clara, Liam, Bentley, Thea, and Izaak. Each of them carries forward the love and wisdom he bestowed upon them.
Andy will be dearly missed by his entire family and all who knew him.
