Andrew Michael "Drew" Metzger

Drew Metzger, a dedicated and loving single father, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the age of 41. Born on December 14, 1982, in New Orleans and adopted at birth, Drew devoted his life to raising his beloved daughter, Audrey Metzger, with unwavering love and commitment. Known for his warm heart, generous spirit, and boundless patience, Drew cherished every moment with Audrey, nurturing her dreams and supporting her every step of the way. His interests included Georgia football, amateur photography-having won recognitions for some of his photos-and travel, with Drew saying that the Mediterranean cruise was his dream vacation.
Drew worked for Penfield Addiction Ministries, where he recognized the powerful Christian approach to handling addiction. Starting as a volunteer, Drew became an employee and earned his Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) qualification, dedicating ten years to helping others manage and overcome addiction issues. His exceptional commitment was recently honored with a Volunteer of the Year award for his contribution to the success of the Penfield Golf Tournament.
Drew is survived by his parents, Paula and Mike Metzger; his twin brother, Matthew Metzger; his brother, Jared Metzger, and sister-in-law, Rachel Metzger; and his niece and nephews, Margot, Benjamin, and Henry. He is also survived by his biological mother, Joan Latour, his half-brother, Brett Latour, and nephew Coltyn Latour. Drew's legacy of kindness and devotion will forever live on through Audrey, who was the light of his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a family who will continue to carry his love and memory forward.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 26, from 3:00pm to 8:00 pm at Flanigan Funeral Home, 4400 South Lee Street, Buford, GA 30518. A Catholic Mass and service will take place on Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 6439 Spout Springs Road, Flowery Branch, GA, with Father Ignacio Morales officiating.
