Andrew R. Miller
Ilion, NY
Andrew R. Miller, 79, of Ilion, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, November 17, 2025 at Wynn Hospital in Utica.
He was born on December 28, 1945 in Ilion, a son of the late Ernest and Agnes (Maydole) Miller. Mr. Miller served his country with honor in the United States Army 1st Cavalry during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966.
On January 28, 1967 in Cedarville he was united in marriage to Patricia Gould, a blessed union of over 58 years filled with much love and mutual devotion.
Mr. Miller was employed with Remington Arms in Ilion, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Prior to his employment with Remington Arms he was once employed with H. M. Quackenbusch, and Brown's Feed.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2338 in West Winfield and also enjoyed his time as a member of the Ilion SnowDrifters. In his free time, he cherished every moment spent with his family-especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a fondness for his John Deere tractor and once loved the thrill of snowmobiling. His family remembers him as a simple, laid-back man who appreciated life's easy comforts: a good cup of coffee, a bit of candy, his blue jeans, and his favorite flannel shirts.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, his children, Lynn (Timothy) Olmstead, and Melissa (Robert) Smith. He leaves his grandchildren, Stephanie (Andrew) Osborn, Michael (Corina) Miller, Danielle Smith (fiancé Brandon), Douglas Smith, and Jacqulynn Olmstead, he leaves his great-grandchildren, Isabella, Alessandra, Adriana, Madison, Peyton, and Autumn. He also leaves his siblings, Rosemary Eisenhut, and Robert Miller, also a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Carol Gould, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Laura Ann Miller, and siblings, Ernest Miller Jr, Marlene Papaleo, Rosalie Seelbach, Lois Varin, Gary Miller, and Gregory Miller.
The family would like to sincerely thank Wynn Hospital, especially nurses, Jesse, and Menzies for the wonderful care and compassion given to Mr. Miller during his stay there. Also a special thank you to Edwards Ambulance for the wonderful care.
A private service with Military Honors will be held for the family. Arrangements are with Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 365 West Main St., West Winfield.
The family invites anyone who wishes to join them Saturday, November 22 at 1 pm for a Celebration of Life at The Lanterns on Rasbach Road.
For those who wish, please consider a donation to the VFW Post # 2338, 752 US Highway 20, West Winfield, NY 13491 in his memory.
