Andrew Murcko Obituary
Andrew Peter Murcko 90, passed away quietly in his sleep in Savannah, Georgia on November 15, 2023. He was born in Olyphant, PA and moved up to Binghamton, NY in his childhood.
Andrew was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Reistetter Murcko and Peter Murcko; his wife, Sylvia Capozzi Murcko of several years; his brother in-law, Lee Orzol, and all of his Capozzi in-laws. He is survived by; his son, Mark Murcko; daughter Karen (Christopher) Kane; two sisters, Theresa Orzol and Marien (John) Kruse; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Andy graduated from Binghamton Central High School where he was an avid sport's player, playing on the football team's as well as playing on three different baseball teams. After high school he worked as an auto body technician at local body shops before serving in the US Army during the Koren war. He went to boot camp and went through the MP training and was going to be an MP but luckily right before being shipped overseas the Koren war ended. After his service, he returned to the Binghamton, NY and then joined IBM in Endicott, NY in product testing. He would take the family on camping vacations to Black Lake and Atlantic City, with the family trailer. Andy enjoyed and loved to go out fishing in the boat at the family cottage on Cranberry Lake, in Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed motorcycling and going on long rides throughout the finger lakes with his family and friends. Andy love woodworking and was also a watch and clock maker and a member of the National Association Watch & Clock Collectors. He loved to repair broken clocks, watches, antiques as well as repair just about anything else that needed it. He worked on his house re-plumbing and re-wiring the house. He retired as an Industrial Engineer from IBM in 1989 then purchased a mobile home in Lakeland, Florida and was a snowbird for some thirty years. He continued his hobbies of woodworking repairing old clocks and watches and became a big part of the Angler Cove mobile home community decorating the club house at Christmas time and arranging many parties and pool tournaments. He became a very good pool player, winning many awards at local Lakeland pool tournaments.
Andy will be greatly missed by his two children Mark, Karen (Christopher) and many more, including his friends in Lakeland.
