Andrew S. O’Lear, Jr. (Drew) of McCandless Township, age 76, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Gena (Schaeffer) O’Lear for 56 years and was devoted to her. Andrew is also survived by his cousins Eileen, Rebecca and Bethany as well as other extended family members and longtime friend, Mike. Drew was a lifelong Pittsburgher and an avid Steelers fan, who enjoyed cheering them on and talking football. Since he was a young man, he loved cars, especially fast cars. He was very proud of his 73 Chevy Camaro and his limited-edition Ford Mustang Rousch. Drew was also an animal lover, and spent many years working at the Pittsburgh Zoo, happy to be around the animals when he worked. He was wonderful and caring with children at the zoo and wherever he met them. He was a hard worker who took pride in a job well done. Drew possessed a wealth of knowledge about how to f ix things and an understanding of how they worked and was always willing to help others by sharing that knowledge. There were many things that Drew loved, but most of all he loved his wife, Gena. There will be a Blessing Service at the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home at 3552 California Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212 on Friday, March 28 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Animal Friends.
