Andrew Smith: A Life Fully Lived

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew Sean Patrick Smith, who departed this life on June 6, 2025, at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. While his absence is profoundly felt, his family finds solace in knowing that he is in the arms of Jesus in heaven. Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8, NLT.

Andrew was born on February 8, 1983, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. Christian and Cynthia Smith (both deceased) raised him; he was their only child. They immigrated to the United States in the late 1980s and settled in South Florida; Andrew spent the latter part of his childhood in Tamarac, Florida.

Andrew earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. He began his career in sales, working for Precise Motion & Control, before returning to engineering and joining The Mosaic Company in Riverview, Florida. In 2015, he relocated his family to Texas in search of a better life. His professional journey led him to Gerdau Steel and Whitmore, culminating in his role as a Maintenance Reliability Engineer at Amazon.

Andrew's impact extended far beyond his career. He was a man defined by his boundless love for his wife of 16.5 years, Yolaine (Yoli), whom he cherished above all else. Together, they navigated life's adventures and are raising their four incredible children: Elizabeth, Evangeline, Evander, and Ezéchiel. Andrew was a present father and a strong pillar in their lives, volunteering tirelessly (All Pro Dads and the PTA) at their school and serving as a devoted Den Leader for Scouting America Cub Scouts Pack 89 since August 2022. His selfless spirit was evident to everyone; he was always ready to offer a helping hand and famously would give you the shirt off his back. Andrew's presence was electrifying, often bringing a smile to every face and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Outside of his family and work commitments, Andrew pursued his passions with enthusiasm. He enjoyed playing video games, watching anime, and reading manga, and proudly cultivated a collection of hats, Marvel comics, and action figures. A true sports fan, he was a big supporter of the Miami Heat, the Miami Dolphins, and his alma mater's USF Bulls.

Andrew is survived by his wife, Yoli; his four children, Elizabeth, Evangeline, Evander, and Ezéchiel; numerous aunts, uncles, brother- and sisters-in-law, godchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; his best friend, who became like a brother, Abel; and many friends, colleagues, and coworkers. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Christian and Cynthia.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held to honor Andrew's remarkable life on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Jeter & Son Funeral Home in Cedar Hill, Texas. A repass will follow at 12:00 PM (Noon) at the Hill City Church auditorium in Cedar Hill, Texas. The service will be a pure celebration of his spirit, the love he emanated, and the joy and memories he brought into the world, without the presence of his body or cremains.

In lieu of flowers that will eventually fade, the family humbly asks that donations be made to Andrew's Memorial GoFundMe (https://gofund.me/b2af4467), dedicated to establishing a college fund for his children, a testament to his enduring love and foresight for their future.
