In Loving Memory of Andrew Charles Spitzley

Andrew "Andy" Charles Spitzley passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, at 68. Born on February 21, 1957, in Fowler, Michigan, Andy will be remembered for his infectious smile, kindness, and easy laugh-qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Andy grew up in a big, close-knit family as the son of Art and Laverne Spitzley and the brother of Diann (Mike) Spitzley, Kathy (Fred) Pfeiffer, and the late Duane Spitzley, Linda Woods, Cindy Heim, and Carol Manegold. He is also fondly remembered by the spouses of his late siblings, including Connie Spitzley and Gary "Woody" Woods.

On October 10,1992, which happened to be a Michigan State vs. Michigan football afternoon, Andy married Maureen Joyce, and together they spent 33 years building a life centered on love, companionship, and shared memories. Through Maureen, Andy also became part of the Joyce and Kinney families, including his mother-in-law, Irene, and sisters-in-law, Jeanne Joyce, Rose (Ross) Joyce-Turner, Susanne Joyce (Rod Klossowski), and Michelle (Rick) Smith. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Joseph Joyce.

Andy had a gift for making people feel welcome. He didn't need to be the loudest voice in the room-you simply felt better when he was around. He showed up for people with genuine care, a steady presence, and a familiar offer: "Can I get you a drink?" His customers knew they could count on him. His friends and family knew he'd be there when it mattered. That's who he was.

He was a loyal sports fan, especially of the Michigan State Spartans and the Green Bay Packers. But more than anything, Andy loved being with people, whether watching a game, sharing stories, or simply enjoying the moment. Andy loved the feeling of being at the Joyce Family farm in Wisconsin. His faithful dog Marley was rarely far from his lap, a constant companion through both good days and hard ones.

Andy was a family man, through and through. He is deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and longtime friends who knew the depth of his love and felt his care and kindness in both big and small ways.

The family is especially grateful to the many people who supported Andy during his final years, including his dedicated home healthcare nurses and the family and friends who made a difference with their care, company, and compassion.

A Memorial Service to honor Andy's life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel, 6301 W. St. Joe Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917. Visitation will take place earlier that day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

As we gather to remember Andy, we celebrate a man who lived simply, loved deeply, and made the world a little kinder just by being in it. As his favorite quote reminds us: "If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart; I'll stay there forever." – A.A.
