William John Spitzley, of Portland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 69. He was born in Lansing on July 5, 1955, the son of William and Gladys (Brown) Spitzley. Bill was a graduate of Portland High School – Class of 1973. A lifelong sports fan and car enthusiast, Bill held University of Michigan Football season tickets for 50 years, rarely missing a game. He enjoyed taking drives to visit friends around town. Above all, Bill cherished time with family, especially while attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew him.
Preceding Bill in death are his parents, William and Gladys Spitzley. He is survived by his children, Chris (Lindsey) Spitzley, Mark (Mandy) Spitzley, and Amy (Jordy) Lanz; grandchildren, Devin, Brayden, Bella, Selia, Ayla, Mason, and Kenzie; sisters, Liz (Doug) Hart and Pat (Dale Carlson) Spitzley; nephew, Michael; and nieces, Cathy and Anne-Marie.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.
The Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Beckett at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. Interment will follow at Portland Cemetery. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association in honor of Bill. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com
