Andrew Szasz

Andrew “Andy” Szasz, 69, of Chesterland, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Mapleview Country Villa. A viewing and funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon on Monday, November 3rd at 10:30am.

Andy was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 25, 1956. He earned his undergraduate degree from Cleveland State University, and graduated from Ohio State University with a Doctorate in Optometry. Andy opened his own practice in Bainbridge and from there went on to be the optometrist at Sam’s Club in Mentor, Ohio. He was known for his friendly and gentle patient care.

Andy had a deep appreciation for classic films and loved working on projects around the house. He enjoyed many camping trips with his siblings, nephews and nieces. Andy had a great fascination with Bigfoot stories and loved walking in the woods with his dog Gracie. He spent many happy hours joking around with his sister Anna and her sister-in-law Wendy. Andy was most content sitting by a lake fishing, which he did often with his brother Joe and his nephews. He’ll be remembered as a soft-spoken man who loved spending time with his family.

Andy is survived by his brothers Martin and Joe. Friends and family are invited to St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon at 10:30am on November 3rd for the viewing, with a funeral Mass starting at 11am.
