Andrew Troyer

Andrew Troyer, age 76, of Okeechobee, Florida, and Westler Lake, Indiana, died March 29, 2024 in Okeechobee, Florida. Andrew was born in Inola, Oklahoma on September 30, 1947 to the late Neal and Ida (Detweiler) Troyer. He graduated from Pryor High School, in Pryor, Oklahoma, and went on to attend both Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and Indiana University South Bend for his undergraduate studies.
Andrew proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1969-1971, during the Vietnam War, and was the recipient of two Bronze Service Stars.
Andrew excelled in his business career. He was a co-owner of Imperial Van Conversions until its acquisition by Starcraft in 1994, where he became Vice President of Sales until 1998. After Starcraft, he was then a Sales Manager with Recreation Conversions until his retirement in 2008.
He was first married to Cheryl (Dubbs) Callan, with whom he had his second daughter, Amy (Troyer) Gray. He later married Dawn (Hamm) Troyer on June 16, 2001, extending his family and gaining two step daughters, Brandy (Criswell) Christianson and Brittany (Criswell) Ransburg. Dawn and Andrew had a strong, unbreakable love and were partners in all of life's adventures until his death. It wasn't until 2022 when he was able to meet his first daughter, Mistey (Jones) Book, through Ancestry.com and welcome her into the family.
Andrew was active in the Rome City United Methodist Church, where he served as Pastor Parish Committee chairman. After moving to Florida, he became actively involved in Okeechobee First Methodist Church. In the past, Andrew served as a volunteer for the entertainment committee of the Elkhart County Fair Association, as well as President of the Westler Lake Association, where he helped organize many poker runs and lake fundraisers. In Florida, Andrew was a member of and volunteered with the Okeechobee VFW Post 10539.
Andrew enjoyed life to the fullest! He loved traveling in his motorhome with his motorcycle. He loved family fishing trips to Stockton Lake, Missouri, summer vacations with his grandsons, and finding fun in all of his adventures. He never met a stranger and always made a friend wherever he would go. Andrew enjoyed helping people and making others laugh. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by: parents, Neal and Ida (Detweiler) Troyer and brother, Freemon Troyer.

Wife, Dawn (Hamm) Troyer.
Daughter, Mistey (Jones) Book and her husband, David Book.
Daughter, Amy (Troyer) Gray and her husband, John Gray.
Daughter, Brandy (Criswell) Christianson and her husband, Christopher Christianson.
Daughter, Brittany (Criswell) Ransburg and her husband, Ryan Ransburg.
Grandchildren: Bryce Gingerich, Brant Gingerich, Nikki Malec, Zoe Book, Titus Christianson, Justice Christianson, Kaylee Ransburg.
Great grandchildren: Milo Malec and Emma Book.
Brothers: Rudy Troyer, Neal Troyer, Mose Troyer, Larry Troyer, and William Troyer.
Sisters: Edna Yoder, Alma Eichelberger, Lydia Lawrence, Susie Arnold, Ida Shetler, and Wilma Garrett.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 8th, from 3:00 - 7:00PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 9 2024 at 1:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Albaugh officiating.
Burial with military honors will take place at Hawpatch Cemetery near Topeka.
Memorial donations may be made to Okeechobee First Methodist Church or Disabled Veterans Association.
