Andy Bowler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. John's Family Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 31, 2026.
James Andrew "Andy" Bowler, 74, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away at his home on January 22, 2026.

Andy was born and raised in Maryville, Tennessee, to the late Thomas and Ruth Bowler and grew up in Alcoa. Following his graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his military service, he began a long and accomplished career as a merchant mariner, a profession that reflected his love of the sea and adventure.

Over the years, Andy made his home in Arizona and Florida. After settling in St. Augustine, he owned and operated Tropical Ice for ten years.

Andy was a man of many interests. He was an avid stock trader with a sharp mind for the markets and had a deep appreciation for genealogy, enjoying the exploration of family history. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution. A lifelong baseball fan, Andy loyally cheered for the San Francisco Giants and loved traveling across the United States visiting ballparks. He showed up to many a milestone with silly string in hand, turning that special day into one with a funny story. Despite the GRUMPY exterior!

Andy will be remembered for his curiosity, independence, and passion for learning and travel.

He is survived by his son, Kristofer Bowler (Sabrina); BEST EX WIFE EVER Donna Drake; siblings, Patrick Earl Bowler and Mary Ruth Risner; nieces and nephews, Michele Welch (Digger), P.A. Bowler (Lisa), Michael Lobo (Serena) and Patricia Bowler; great nieces and nephews, Alexandra and Casey Welch, Fletcher Bowler (Michelle) and Piper Brown (Nathaniel). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Tommy Bowler.
