On Sunday morning, June 23, 2024, Andy Pagac joined his wife, Roberta, in heaven after suffering from pancreatic cancer and a very broken heart since her recent passing in February. Andy was the 10th of 11 children born on December 12, 1932, son of the late Frank and Mary Trumka Pagac in Richeyville, where he was a life-long resident before moving to Presbyterian Assisted Senior Care last year. After graduating from Centerville High School, class of 1950, Andy joined the United States Air Force. During his time with the Air Force, he was hospitalized for 11 months before his honorable discharge in 1954 having served in the Korean War. Andy started his civilian career working for the County of Washington in March of 1955, as the Director of Veterans Affairs assisting fellow veterans. He retired in February 1993 after over 29 years of service. He also worked a few years as a coal miner. Andy and his brother Ed and their wives owned and operated Pagac's Bar in Beallsville from 1965 to 1975. On September 27, 1958, he married Roberta L. Keres, and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage before her passing this year. Andy leaves behind his two daughters, Andrea (Robert) Johnston, of Eighty-Four, and Aggie (David) Scarton of Washington. In addition, Andy was so proud of his five grandchildren: (following in his military footsteps) AF Veteran Ian Johnston, AF Lt. Colonel Cassandra (David) Cowher; Colin (Lexus) Johnston; Laura Scarton and DJ (Kate) Scarton and his seven great-grandchildren: Daniel, Rebecca, Jacob Cowher and Koy, Kowen, Kopelyn and Kopper Johnston, with new grand-baby Eliza Scarton coming very soon! Andy retired early to pursue his life passion of playing golf as much as possible, having scored two (2) hole-in-ones and "shooting his age" from age 69 to age 85!! He was also a proud member of the "Pagac Family Feud Golf Outing" and the "Pagac New Year's Golf Day Event". Andy and Roberta traveled on many cruises and to all-inclusive sunny resorts with their daughters, their husbands, and grandchildren! Andy also devoted much time to volunteering at the church, food bank, fish-fry's and helping his family and neighbors with whatever they needed. Andy was very proud of his Polish heritage and will long be remembered as a fun-loving, easy to get along with guy - always the one to bring people together - especially with a beer (Stoney's) and polka music! Andy loved to play polka music on Saturday mornings and would dance every polka at any Polka Party! New Year's Eve dances at the St. Agnes Social Hall or any polka party were his favorite times! Andy was a dedicated member of St. Katharine Drexel Church in Richeyville, where he was a member of their Choir and Alter Server, where he held the honor of Fr. Ed's "Oldest" alter server. He was very proud and honored to say the prayer before dinner at Cassie's wedding and to be the Alter Server at Colin's wedding (where he accidently "broke" the bells ringing them)! He was also a member of the Centerville American Legion, Post 0705 for over 60 years and the Miners' Club of Richeyville. Andy is survived by his younger brother, Ed (Jessie, deceased); Sister-in-law Toots Pagac; brother and sister-in-law John and Sandy Keres and many nieces, nephews, great- nieces, and great- nephews. Deceased are his brothers and sisters-in-laws; Frank (Frances), Elmer, John (Helena), Joseph (Helen), Charles (Mary), Anthony, Stanley (KIA-WWII), and sisters, Maggie, and Agnes. In lieu of flowers, grab a Stoneys and toast to Andy - Nazdrowie "to your health"; play some polka music and find a partner to polka-it will make you think of Andy! You can also make a donation in Andy's name to St. Katharine Drexel Church, 4 Church Street, Richeyville, PA 15358 or the Centerville American Legion, Post 0705, 1101 Old National Pike, Fredericktown, PA 15333. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd. 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish Richeyville Campus with Fr. Edward Yuhas officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church. Interment will follow in the Beallsville Cemetery. Special thanks to Gateway Hospice, "Megan the Nurse", fellow co-workers and Chaplain Jude, along with the entire wonderful and excellent staff at Presbyterian Southminster especially Nurse Sherri, Nurse Jen, Nurse Brian, and buddy Clarence, who took such great care of Mom and Dad these past two years. An online guestbook is available at
