Remembering Angela Estella Hampton Howard

Angela Estella Hampton Howard, born December 8, 1960, in Macon, Georgia, was the beloved daughter of Clarence and Edna Hampton. Surrounded by her family, Angela peacefully entered eternal rest on November 5, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama. Her life was a testament to faith, love, service, and an unwavering devotion to God's calling. To those who knew her, Angela was truly an angel among us, her legacy of faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

A Foundation of Faith

Angela's lifelong devotion to Christ began at an extraordinarily young age-she asked for her first Bible at just two years old. She grew up worshipping at Macedonia Baptist Church, where her love for Christ blossomed and shaped the path of her life. As the seventh of nine children, born to Mr. & Mrs. Hampton, Angela learned the values of independence, discipline, resilience, and servant-leadership, instilled by her father's strong work ethic and her mother's steadfast faith.

Education and Early Achievements

Angela attended Southwest High School in Macon, graduating with the Class of 1978. She was cherished by her classmates, serving as captain of the cheerleading squad and participating in numerous clubs, the choir, and the student government. She continued her academic journey at Clark College in Atlanta and earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of West Georgia in 1982. Angela then moved to South Carolina, embarking on a career in retail management.

A Distinguished Career

For over forty years, Angela excelled in retail management, holding numerous leadership roles. She retired in May 2025 as Store Manager at Kohl's Department Store, capping twenty years of dedicated service. Angela's leadership journey began as a Softlines Manager at K-Mart, a role that brought her to Mobile, Alabama, and led to a fateful meeting with the love of her life, and soulmate, Andrew (Andy) Price Howard, Jr.

A Love Meant to Be

Angela and Andy's relationship was divinely orchestrated-encouraged by friends and family, including Andy's father, who insisted they were destined to meet. Angela often shared that she knew Andy was her future husband from their very first conversation, a night marked by laughter, a deep connection, and a heartfelt goodnight hug. Their marriage, spanning 37 wonderful years, was filled with worship, music, travel, community service, and the joys of raising a family.

Devoted Mother and Cherished Family

Angela became a mother with the births of her daughter, Angelica, in 1989, and her son, Andrew, in 1994. She devoted herself wholly to nurturing, guiding, and championing her children, instilling in them a deep love for God. Angela was not only a loving mother but also a confidant, encourager, protector, and unwavering supporter. Her children will always be grateful for her boundless spirit and gracious heart.

Angela's warmth extended beyond her immediate family, she welcomed her children's friends into her home, becoming a second mother to many. Her legacy of hospitality and compassion touched countless young lives and will endure for generations.

Mentor, Leader, and Community Servant

Throughout her career, Angela mentored hundreds of employees, consistently ranking among the top 10% in her company nationwide. She was known for her attention to detail, exceptional customer service, and, above all, her dedication to coaching and uplifting her colleagues. For many, she will always be remembered as their "Favorite Boss."

Angela's generosity was boundless. She supported charities, food banks, shelters, ministries, and any cause that moved her heart. Whether filling homes with Christmas gifts, organizing birthday surprises, or simply offering a thoughtful token, Angela's love and positivity touched everyone she met.

Faithful Service and Community Involvement

Angela was a devoted servant at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where she sang in the choir, served as President of the Women of the Church, founded and led The Daughters of the King, and was a member of the Vestry. Her commitment to service extended into the wider Mobile community. She was an active member of the Greater Mobile Chapter of The Links, Inc., a lifetime member of Jack and Jill of America, and a beloved Mardi Gras belle, always radiating elegance and grace.

A Life Well Lived

Angela embraced life fully, reflecting the divine love she carried within. Fearless and bold, she met every challenge with faith and determination. Though words fall short of capturing her extraordinary spirit, Angela's joyful, loving, and faithful presence will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her. Those who loved her are now entrusted with carrying forth her legacy of kindness, grace, service, and faith.

Angela was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Hampton Jr. and Edna Hampton, and her brothers, Clarence Hampton III and Joseph Hampton.

Cherished Survivors

She leaves in loving memory: Husband: Andrew (Andy) Price Howard Jr.; Daughter: Angelica Elyse Howard; Son: Dr. Andrew Price Howard III; Sisters: Janice Hampton Ross, Jeanette (Ronald) Leonard, Corliss (Melvin) Dixon, Valerie Goldston, and Felecia Hampton; Brothers: Walter Hamilton and Jacinto Hampton; Sisters-in-law: Emily Campbell, Karen (Terry) White; Brother-in-law: Murray (Vivian) Turner, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, friends, and extended family.
