Angelia L. (Pipes) Rugnitz, age 73, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, under the care of home hospice in Pompano Beach, Florida, after a courageous 12-year battle with breast cancer.
She was born on March 18, 1952, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to the late Pursie E. and Norma Pipes. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Hynes, and her grandparents, Jenny and Orly Youngblood.
Angelia is survived by her beloved daughter, Tiffany Yarbrough, and cherished granddaughter, Angelica Stavrianakos of Pompano Beach, FL. She is also survived by her brother, Perry Pipes, and his significant other, Judith Politi, along with her nieces, Stella and Francesca of Columbus, OH, and her nephew, Tay Hynes of Mount Vernon, IL.
A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Angelia earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in fashion design. She went on to become a celebrated fashion model in St. Louis and pursued her passion for the arts throughout her life. She especially enjoyed decorating for every holiday, creating beautiful flower arrangements, and sharing her love of opera through singing.
Above all, Angelia devoted her life to being a loving mother and grandmother. She was truly one of a kind, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private service will be held for the family. Angelia will be laid to rest, next to her parents, at Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
