Angelina "Angie" Ann Bacchetti Long passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 3, 1931, in Ferndale, California, to Cristoforo and Domenica Pirlo Bacchetti.
A proud first-generation Italian American, Angie cherished her heritage. Her parents immigrated from Ono Degno, Italy, to California's North Coast in the 1920s, later relocating their dairy farm to Tracy in 1940. Angie's strong work ethic began in childhood, as she and her younger brother, Nat, fed calves before school and helped with milking and other ranch chores in the afternoons.
She graduated from Central Elementary School and Tracy High School (Class of 1949). After high school, Angie worked at a local livestock auction yard where she met the love of her life, Henry Charles Long, a tall, handsome farmer. They were married on October 30, 1955, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Tracy. Following their honeymoon at the newly opened Disneyland, they established their lifelong home and ranch in French Camp. Together, they were blessed with three daughters: Kathleen, Charlene, and Laureen.
Angie's life was defined by devotion to her family, faith, agriculture, and community. She was an active member and officer of the French Camp Elementary School PTA, Lathrop Junior High School PTA, East Union High School PTA, and the East Union High School Athletic Booster Club. She was also a long-time cooking project leader for the French Camp 4-H Club. Angie participated in numerous organizations including the Young Ladies Institute of St. Bernard's Church (Y.L.I. #150), California Women in Agriculture (CWA), San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation, Italian Catholic Federation (IFC #390), Dante Club, Liguri Mondo Club, Swiss-Italian Club, San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club, and the Stanislaus Swiss Association. Throughout her life, she was a generous supporter of many local non-profit organizations and a parishioner of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Tracy and Mission of the Good Shepherd in French Camp.
Her Italian cooking and baking skills were legendary. Angie's freezer was stocked with her famous biscotti, banana bread, lemon bars, cookies, and more to share with friends and family. She also loved gardening, devoting hours to caring for the flowers and plants that brightened her yard. Above all, she treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who adored their "Nona" and "Bis Nona."
Angie found joy in dancing, traveling, and gathering with friends and family. She especially cherished reconnecting with classmates at Tracy High's Class of 1949 reunions and visiting at Bacchetti family reunions. A devoted sports fan who loved the Oakland A's, she rarely missed her grandsons' games and later took great pride in cheering on her great-grandchildren in their sports endeavors. Together, she and Henry created lasting memories on their travels across the United States, Europe, and Australia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cristoforo and Domenica Bacchetti; her beloved husband of 67 years, Henry Long (who passed in 2022); and daughters Kathleen and Laureen Long.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Reece (Pete); grandchildren Peter Reece Jr. (Angela), Christopher Reece (Natalie), and Zachary Reece (Mia); great-grandchildren Adeline, Evelyn, Peter III, Bridget, Henry, Avery, Julia, Olivia, Ava, and Weston; her brother and sister-in-law, Nat and Marie Bacchetti; and many cherished nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Angie's family extends heartfelt gratitude to her longtime caregiver/Angel Vasa, as well as Hina and Sonya for their compassionate care. They also express deep appreciation to Dr. G. Grewal, Dr. S. Hubli, and Dr. K. Parekh for their extraordinary medical services.
