Angelo R. Cieri passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, April 23rd at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was 88. Born in and raised in the town of Lapio, Avellino, Italy, Angelo was the son of the late Federico and Carmela (Bevilacqua) Cieri.
Angelo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. The embodiment of the American Dream, he came to this country in 1961 and began a decades long career with Local 22. He worked hard and was soon able to buy a house, which he and his wife Alessandra made into a home. He loved to be outdoors, whether gardening at home, hunting in the woods, going to the beach, or walking by the ocean. Occasionally he would try his luck at the casino.
The beloved husband of the late Alessandra (Martignetti) Cieri, who passed away in 2007, he was a devoted father to Carmella Donato and her partner Michael Ferretti of Medford and to the late Federico Cieri and his surviving wife Constance Cieri of Medford. He was a loving grandfather to Paul J. Donato III and his wife Sara, and Cassandra Donato and her husband Patrick Reilly. He was a loving great-grandfather to Jack Reilly. Angelo was a dear brother to Angelo A. Cieri and his wife Clelia, Erminio Cieri and his wife Antoinette, and Maria and her late husband Dominico D'Iorio. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, April 28 from 4-8 PM and again on Tuesday, April 29 at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Angelo's name to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75244.
