Angelo J. Cubelli, affectionately known by his family and friends as "Mimi" and "Mousie," passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the age of 90, with his devoted wife by his side. A lifelong resident of Methuen, Angelo was born in 1935 to the late Frank Cubelli Sr. and Louise (Paleno) Cubelli. He grew up surrounded by the love of his family and community, and throughout his life, he remained deeply rooted in the town that shaped him.
Angelo was widely recognized as the "Mayor of Methuen", a title not official, but lovingly bestowed upon him by those who admired his presence, his humor, and his unwavering dedication to the people around him. His career in the construction industry was marked by hard work, integrity, and success, and he took great pride in building not only structures but also lasting relationships.
At the age of 16, Angelo met the love of his life, Mary A. (Grasso) Cubelli. Their bond was immediate and enduring. They married at 20 and shared 70 extraordinary years together, a testament to their devotion, resilience, and joy. Their marriage was the heart of Angelo's world, and together they created a family that became his greatest source of pride.
Angelo was the adored father of Deborah A. Kurps and her late husband Michael, and Richard A. Cubelli and his fiancée Debbie Mustapha. He was the cherished grandfather of Michael, Christopher, Jennifer, Julie, Jaime, and Freddie, and the amazing great-grandfather of Michaela, Makenzie, Wyatt, Hannah, Jaxson, Jayson, Angelina, and Sebastian. His family was his legacy, and he delighted in every milestone, every laugh, and every gathering.
Beyond his family and career, Angelo lived a life full of passions and traditions. He loved scratch tickets and the thrill of a small gamble, enjoyed hunting with family and friends and ice fishing, and was a proud member of his local bowling league. His vegetable garden was a source of both nourishment and joy, and he tended it with the same care he gave to his loved ones. A loyal fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins, Angelo never missed a chance to cheer on his teams.
Travel was another joy in his life. Annual trips to Las Vegas and Aruba became cherished traditions, and later he embraced the lifestyle of a snowbird, savoring the warmth and adventure of winters away in Florida.
Angelo's great sense of humor, his hardworking spirit, and his ability to bring people together defined him. He was a man who could light up a room with a joke, who never shied away from lending a hand, and who embodied the values of loyalty, perseverance, and love.
He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, resilience, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His family, friends, and community will remember him not only for the life he built but for the joy he brought into theirs.
