Anita J. Chapman

Anita (Meehan) Chapman, of Hanson, MA, formerly of Quincy and Dorchester, MA, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 30, 1939, in Boston, MA, to William and Margaret (McGee) Meehan. Anita grew up in Orchard Park neighborhood of Roxbury and graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School.
Anita married Donald Chapman (1938–2013), and together they shared a marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. They took incredible pride in raising their children, creating a home full of warmth, humor, and cherished traditions that will be remembered for generations. Anita treasured her husband's humor and the laughter they shared, filling her home with warmth, love, and lasting memories.
Anita will be fondly remembered for her love of cooking, spending time with family and friends, and taking memorable road trips with her husband, Donny. She took immense pride in the successes of her children and grandchildren, found endless joy in her great-grandchildren, and adored her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved twin brother, Ronald Meehan, as well as her siblings Robert Meehan and Barbara (Meehan) Bailey. Anita is survived by her loving sister, Rita (Meehan) Keefe. She was the beloved mother of Donald Chapman and his wife Kimberly of Weymouth, Andrea Pendrak and her husband Stanley of Hanson, and Linda Sweeney and her husband James of Braintree. Anita was a proud Nana to Donald, James, Tara, Nora, Jake, Jared, and Julia, and a loving great-grandmother to Emmalynne, Hannah, Hailey, Josie and Lily.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anita's memory to the Alzheimer's Association to support dementia research and care.
Visiting hours will be held at the Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan St, (Corner of Rte 14 & 58) Hanson, on Wednesday, October 1, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Apostles Church (St. Joseph the Worker) , 1 Maquan St, Hanson, at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson.
