Anita Louise He'bert

Anita Louise "Mudder" He'bert, 82, ascended to Heaven on August 21,2025, in her home.

She was educated in the New Orleans Public Schools and was a proud Joseph S. Clark Class of 1960 Bulldog. She studied English for three years at Southern University at New Orleans and was an active fighter for African Americans during the Civil Rights era. Anita was employed by Food for Families, now Catholic Charities, for over 25 years.

Anita went by several nicknames; "Teedy", "Nabear", "Nita", "Ma". But, she was most proud of "Mudder".

She is preceded in death by her parents, Murrell, Sr and Pinkie He'bert; her daughter, Karen Elizabeth He'bert-Brown; her grandson, Corey M. He'bert; 3 brothers, Robert "Nicky"Turner, Murrell "Lil Mo" Jr, and Melvin He'bert; 7 sisters, Sylvia D. Gamble, Iris C. Lewis and Ann E. He'bert, Veda Dregory, Regina, Audrey, and Arthurlee He'bert.

She is survived by her loving daughter and best friend, Courtney J He'bert; the centers of her life, her grandsons, Charles M. He'bert, Christopher M. He'bert, Couren J. Gibson, and Machai A. Gibson; siblings, Edward "Tucky" G. He'bert, Gwendolyn He'bert-Ward, and Deloris He'bert-Breaux; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
