Anita Kennedy Obituary

Anita Helene (Coffey) Kennedy, 95, passed away Sat. April 2, 2022. Anita was born May 31, 1926 to William and Mary (Graham) Coffey. She graduated from Westfield State University with a B.A. and M.A. in Education. Anita taught in the elementary schools in West Springfield and Westfield School Systems. After retiring, Anita spent most summers with family vacationing on the Cape. There was nothing she enjoyed more than her grandchildren. Anita was predeceased by her husband Thomas J. Kennedy Jr. on Jan. 1, 2012. Together they had five children; Thomas Kennedy III, Johanna (Bob) Brackney, Mary Kennedy, Anne Kennedy and Amy (Fred) Chamberlain. Besides her children, she leaves behind her seven grandchildren; Bryan (Erica) Kennedy, Katelyn and Colleen Kennedy, Annie, Daniel, Sarah and Michael Chamberlain, along with her great grandchildren Olivia and Donovan Kennedy. The family would like to especially thank Annie Chamberlain for all the years of love and care that she provided for Anita. Annie’s sacrifices made it possible for Anita to remain in her home. Besides her husband Tom, she was also predeceased by her siblings; Frances, Alice, Hannah and Bill. A Private Memorial Mass will be held for Anita and she will be interred with her husband in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Dominican Monastery, 1430 Riverdale St., W. Spfld, MA 01089 or to the Baystate VNA & Hospice, 50 Maple St., Spfld, MA 01103

Anne and the Kennedy Family,
I want to extend my deepest sympathy to you all. Your mom was a wonderful lady who touched so many lives and was surrounded by such a loving family;she was blessed to have you all as you were to have her. It´s never easy to lose your mom no matter how old we get and you´ll miss her forever.
But she will live on in every one of your hearts -you will always have your sweet memories of her to comfort you.
Keeping you all in my prayers-much love to you, Anne.

Anne and family, you had a wonderful, loving mother for many years who worked hard along with your father to give you all a blessed childhood and beyond. She was a treasure to always hold close in your hearts. Love can never be erased and love never dies. Her love will be with you always. God bless you all at this time of great loss. Our hearts and prayers go out to you.

My heartfelt condolences to the Kennedy family. Anita was my third grade teacher many years ago. I have fond memories of her kind and gentle demeanor. She touched my life as I'm sure she did so many others. She was a wonderful teacher and human being. God bless her.
