With profound love and deep sorrow, the family of Anita Odesser announces her peaceful passing on November 17, 2025, just two days shy of her 80th birthday. Born on November 19, 1945, Anita lived a life overflowing with compassion, joy, and unwavering faith. She was the beating heart of her family—a nurturing, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose presence brought warmth to every room and comfort to every soul she touched.
Anita was the devoted mother of Traci, Todd, and Melissa, who cherished her endlessly. She was a proud and deeply affectionate grandmother to Ethan, Meghan, Rahwa, Ashenafi, Luke, Jake, Julia, David, and Caroline, and she treasured her precious great-grandchildren who lit up her later years with laughter and delight. She shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with Gary, the love of her life. Their bond was a testament to commitment, friendship, and faith. Anita now rejoins Gary in heaven, along with her beloved sister Diane, embraced once again by those she dearly missed. She leaves behind her loving sister Debra and her brother Scott, who will hold her memory close forever.
Anita had a gift for connection—anyone who met her felt instantly seen, loved, and understood. She formed meaningful, intimate bonds with ease, and people were naturally drawn to her gentle spirit. She was deeply social and happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Her passions were simple, pure, and rooted in wonder. She loved gardening, watching the birds that visited her yard, enjoying the serenity of nature, strolling through the zoo, and relaxing by the beach. These small joys reflected her appreciation for the beauty of God’s creation. A woman of enduring and evolving faith, Anita loved God from her earliest days. In her 50s, when she came to know His Son, her life transformed. From that moment forward, she walked closely with Jesus, her Messiah, finding strength, peace, and purpose in her relationship with Him. Her faith was the steady center of her life, guiding her in love and service to others.
Anita leaves a legacy of kindness, gentleness, and unwavering devotion. Her children truly did “arise and call her blessed” every day of her life, as did her beloved husband. She will be remembered for her tenderness, her laughter, her compassion, and the way her love seemed to multiply effortlessly across generations. Though she has left this world, Anita is now joyful and whole, free from pain, embraced in her new heavenly body. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and the countless people who were changed simply by knowing her. She will never be forgotten.
In honor of Anita’s life and the love she shared with all, a visitation with family will be held at Central Church, located at 5301 Sardis Rd. in Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 24, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM. This will be followed by a memorial service at the same location, starting at 11:00 PM. Finally, her journey will conclude with a graveside service at Sunset Memory Garden, 8901 Lawyers Rd in Mint Hill, North Carolina, commencing at 1:00 PM.
