Ann Dunnavant

Ann C. Dunnavant, born on February 11, 1934, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, peacefully passed away in her sleep at Brookdale of Columbia on September 7, 2024. Her passing marks the end of a life lived with extraordinary grace, deep love, and unshakable dedication.

Ann was the quintessential Southern lady, known far and wide for her warm heart and boundless kindness. She gave herself wholeheartedly to caring for others, always with a spirit full of compassion and selflessness. Whether she was tending to those in need or offering a comforting word, Ann was a beacon of kindness, a true embodiment of service, and a friend to all.

In her professional life, Ann wore many hats. She served as a secretary for many years, where her attention to detail and supportive nature shone brightly. She also lent her skills to her husband’s insurance business, providing invaluable support and showing her dedication in every role she took on.

Ann’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, she lived her faith with sincerity and enthusiasm. Her active involvement in church activities reflected the deep-seated beliefs and values she held dear.

Family was Ann’s greatest joy. She is preceded in death by her son, David Dunnavant, and her beloved husband, Clarence Dewey Dunnavant. Ann and Clarence shared a loving family that brought them immense pride and happiness. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Rob) Burcham, and her son, C. Mark Dunnavant. Her family also includes her sister, Emily (Doug) Smith; her sister-in-law, Ruth C. McGowan; her nephew, Stephen (Rhonda) Bass; and her adored grandchildren: Alyson Waggoner, David Burcham, Evan (Rebecca) Burcham, and Emily Burcham.

Her kindness, boundless generosity, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed, leaving a void in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Yet, her enduring memory will continue to inspire and provide solace, serving as a comforting reminder of the remarkable woman she was. Her legacy of warmth and compassion will forever be a guiding light, offering strength and encouragement to those fortunate enough to have experienced her presence and felt the impact of her love.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Brookdale for their compassionate care and support during the past 13 months. Memorial contributions in honor of Ann are to be made to the Room in The Inn, care of Rev. Jeff Kane with Westminster Presbyterian Church.
