Ann Marie Hanson, 97, was ready and called home to Jesus on December 20th, 2025, at her home with loving and dedicated family members at her side. She was devoted to her family and very fortunate to be able to die at peace in her own home as she had hoped for.
Ann Marie Loge, daughter of Hans and Mildred Loge was born August 13,1928 in Blue Earth Minnesota.
She was united in marriage to Lyle Kenneth Hanson on September 17, 1950. Lyle and Ann raised 3 children on the family farm: Peggy Ann Schulman (David), Sue Marie Tharaldson (Roger) and Brian Lyle Hanson (Shari). Prayers before dinner and before bed every night with her kids was routine.
Ann was totally devoted to Lyle and was married 68 years. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and was a doting grandmother to her grandchildren, Jill Boyanovsky (Chris), Jen Lee (Damon), Joslynn Malam (Scott), Thor Wayne Hanson, Noah Kenneth Hanson (fiancée Meghan Erickson); and great grandchildren, Jace Harris and Kayla Tharaldson; and three grand-dogs that she tolerated and then learned to love Duke, Winston and Jax.
Ann was a fabulous cook, precise baker and an immaculate housekeeper. Worked hard her entire life from the age of 11 as a nanny to Clair and Isabelle Speed. At the age of 50, she talked Lyle into buying a restaurant that she called “The Kaffe Hus" on Broadway in Albert Lea which was a great success. She also worked for National T grocery and First Lutheran Church and the Standard Café.
She was highly intelligent and an avid bridge player, enjoyed playing games with family and friends.
Her baking and cooking skills were phenomenal. She insisted on making Krumkake with Jen and Shari for this holiday season. Was not able to get the Lefsa made this year but thought about it. She loved to look at recipes and make new things and could make a beautiful table for holidays and parties. She was a member of First Lutheran Church for more than 80 years.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Lyle, her parents Hans and Mildred Loge, sister Betty, brothers Mike, Marion, Andy and Bill. She has two surviving brothers Gene and Terry Loge. From her father to her husband and all her brothers were Veterans for the United States. Mike died in the Korean War.
Ann was a beautiful, devoted, strong-willed woman, who loved to dress up, accessorize to go visiting, dancing, travel or to church. She also loved to go for a drive anywhere with family.
A visitation and celebration of life will be held from 12:00 -2:00PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at First Lutheran Church, In Albert Lea. Burial will be at East Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to your favorite charity in Ann’s honor.
