Ann Hope Heizer McCoy, of Taylor Lake Village died December 10, shortly after celebrating her 91 birthday. She was born Dec. 4, 1933, in Charleston, West Virginia, to William T. and Sybil Hope Heizer. She attended Lincoln Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High School and Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston where she proudly served as a cheerleader. She graduated cum laude from West Virginia University and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Ann was an active member of the Episcopal Church in West Virginia, Connecticut and Texas, but she made a career of being the consummate Mom. Our house was a haven for children of all ages. Our dinner table always had a few extra places as friends from school, church or the neighborhood would join us for a great home cooked meal and fun family conversation. Whenever a child (or adult) needed motherly advice or a warm hug, she was always there. She truly was the best mom.
Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard "Dick" McCoy, her parents and her brother William T. "Bill" Heizer, Jr. Survivors include her children Richard T. "Rick" and wife, Anne, Jane-Ellen Carter and husband, Bud, Susan Neuhalfen and husband, David, her beloved grandchildren, Richard T. McCoy, Jr. (Rachel), Elizabeth Anne McCoy, Catherine McCoy, Jacob Carter, Sarah-Hope Parohl (Parker) and David Neuhalfen, and great-grandchild Charlotte McCoy. She is also survived by her brother David Heizer of Charleston, and her nephews Sky Heizer of St. Albans, WV and Tom McCoy (Marcia) of Columbus, OH.
A celebration of Ann McCoy's life will be held at Crowder Funeral Home in Webster on Saturday, December 21 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, memorials in Mrs. McCoy's name may be sent to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project.
