Ann's formative years were spent in Irvington, NJ. She later went on to study nursing at Ricker College in Maine. After college, Ann became a stay at home mother to her three beautiful children. She did work at the family run business along with her mother and sister in law Judy Maltenfort, well known as "The Knitting Center" in Millburn, NJ. After the children were older, Ann went on to receive her B.A. in journalism from Rutgers University. She worked for a Rutgers Professor as a proof reader for many years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Orenstein; her brother, Lee and sister in law, Judy Maltenfort.

She leaves behind her sons, Seth and Jon; daughter, Abbi; and her grandchild Arianna.

A favorite quote that Ann used when she had her Bat Mitzvah:

"Oh, every heart hath its sorrow, and every heart hath its pain-
But a day is always coming when the birds go North again"- Ella Higginson
