Ann Elizabeth Ruiz, age 84, of Long Beach MS and San Antonio TX, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Up until the end, Ann maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her long life. Her life can be captured by the five “F” words: Family, Friends, Flowers, Food and Fun.
Ann was born on Apr 28, 1941, in Nashville TN to her parents Wilson Brown and Jodie Edgin. She was a military wife for 21 years supporting her husband’s career and raising her family. She was especially proud to have been a den mother in the early years of her children. After the military, Ann spent the next 30 years working as a manager for different elementary schools in the San Antonio area and retired in 2001. She was an active member of Cornerstone Church of San Antonio, where she was involved in VBS and Angel Tree.
Mrs. Ruiz was preceded in death by her parents Wilson Brown and Jodie Edgin and 2 siblings. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Angel Antonio Ruiz; three children John Anthony Ruiz (Shelley), Cynthia Lynn Wells (Jay), Janet Phillips (Clayton); 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 5 siblings (3 brothers & 2 sisters).
Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral home (date TBD) followed by interment at the Fort Sam Houston National Military Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
