Ann Josephine Smith peacefully passed away in her home Thursday, June 19, 2025. A beloved wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was well known for her kind smile, crafts, baking, knitting and passion for her family and religion.
Ann was preceded in death by her best friend and love of her life, David Smith; a daughter, Christine Lawrence; a grandson, Zachery Bishop; and siblings, Frank, Joseph and Mary.
Survivors include eight children, Mike (Dianne) Smith, Amy (Tom) Below, Tricia (Ted) Draeger, Tom Smith, Casey (Linda) Smith, Jason (Jamie) Smith, Cathy Smith, and Becky Smith; grandchildren, Adam (Rachel), Trey (Karleigh), Jeff (Amanda), Amy, Curtis (Ginny), Lucas (Ali), Holden, Hayden (Michelle), Morgana (Joe), Kendall (Garret), Casey (Callie), Dezriae, Dayton, RyAnn, Raene, Egan, Gabi, and Leo; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis (Leon) Mosher.
Born in Antigo to the late Frank and Anna Novotny in 1945, the family moved to Milwaukee, a few years later Ann completed her education at St. Joan Andita High School in Milwaukee.
Ann spent most weekends and summers at her family cottage on Indian Lake in Kempster where she eventually met her soon to be husband, Dave Smith. They married July 3, 1965 at St. Wencel Catholic Church in Neva.
Ann enjoyed baking, crafting, and was well known for her crocheting skills. Throughout her work life Ann managed several diner kitchens, owned and operated Ann's Subs, and even had a food truck business for a few years. She sold many crafts online and was a regular seller at craft shows and flea markets.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at St. Wencel Catholic Church with Deacon Andy Bures officiating. Burial will take place in St. Wencel Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home.
The family extends a special thank you to LeRoyer Hospice for the comfort and care provided to Ann and her family over the past few months.
