Florence Ann (Redman) Alumbaugh Williams, better known as Ann Williams, 93, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed peacefully on February 2, 2025 surrounded by love.
Ann was a caring mother, grandmother, wife, teacher, and friend. The legacy she left behind in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren made her incredibly proud. Along with her family, her friendships, travels, and love of golf lit up her life - as did a nice slice of warm pie.
Born in 1931, Ann was raised in Wadesville, Indiana, in a rural area of Posey County. She graduated from ISUE (now USI) finding a personal passion, fulfillment, and purpose in teaching. Ann was a beloved teacher at Farmersville Elementary for many years, retiring from elementary education and transitioning into adjunct faculty at her alma mater, USI, in her later years. She was also a member of Mount Zion General Baptist Church, First Christian Church, and Harvestime Temple. Ann was a respected, beloved fixture of the community of Mount Vernon, Indiana for over half a century.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Williams; first husband, William Alumbaugh; son, Stephen Wayne Alumbaugh; daughter, Sandra Dee Alumbaugh; mother, Evelyn (Moutrey) Redman; father, Algae Redman; brothers, Jim Redman, Michael Redman and Frederick Gabbard; and sister, Billie June.
Ann is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Cyndi and Sue Anne; as well as her son, Douglas. She is also cherished by her grandchildren, Erica, Sunny (Jon), Brandon (Brianna), Kama, and Steven; and great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Arianna, Sam, Dakota, Isabelle, Madeline (Cole), and Aiden.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Mark Tabor officiating and burial to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harvestime Temple, 101 Roosevelt Dr., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620.
