Margie Jean Allyn, 100, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away Monday, April 7, 2025 at the Evansville Protestant Home. She was born October 13, 1924 in Posey County, IN to the late Oscar and Frieda (Egli) Lurker. Margie married Gilbert W. Allyn on December 25, 1948 and they shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in 1999.
Margie was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family. She was a proud 1942 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and assisted in organizing class reunions. Margie was a loyal long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon and helped teach Sunday School. She was an avid University of Evansville Aces basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband; brothers, Edwin and Elvis Lurker; and infant sister, Pauline Lurker.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Kathy) Allyn.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Pastor Christopher Millay officiating and burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 601 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620
