Anna Marie Cahoy, age 93, formerly of Bonesteel, SD, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion, SD.
Anna Marie was born December 25, 1931 in Spencer, NE, to Fred and Katie (Wuest) Schochenmaier.
Anna Marie attended country school not far from her home. On February 20, 1952 she was married to Elmer Cahoy at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairfax. A blizzard occurred that day, therefore their wedding pictures were taken a week later. To this union four children were born, Darrel in 1953, Joann in 1954, Ronnie in 1957 and Lonnie in 1963.
They lived on a farm south of Bonesteel where Anna Marie milked cows and raised her children. In 1962 they purchased a farm east of Fairfax and lived there until 1984. Elmer and Anna Marie then moved to a home in Bonesteel. Anna Marie so enjoyed going to morning coffee at the Tee Pee café and playing cards with friends and relatives. One never had to ask her twice if she wanted to play cards. Anna Marie enjoyed baking and she and Elmer enjoyed traveling with friends. She was involved in St. Anthony's Altar Society and Royal Neighbors.
Anna Marie was a good Grandma and Great Grandmother. Her eyes always lit up when the grandchildren came in the room.
In September of 2010 a car accident took her husband and she continued to live in her home in Bonesteel until 2013 when she moved to the Haisch Haus in Bonesteel under the wonderful care of Monica and crew. She lived there for ten years. March of 2023 found Anna Marie moving to Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion, SD where again she was well cared for.
Anna Marie is survived by her daughter Joann (Darrell) Bentz of Fairfax, SD and son Lonnie Cahoy of Brandon, SD; grandchildren Angel Bentz (Ja Packard), Wade (Heidi) Bentz and Jonathan Cahoy; great grandchildren Talon and Leila Bentz and Lucy and Oliver Cahoy; sisters-in-law Lila Schochenmaier and Marjorie Schochenmaier, and numerous nieces and nephews.
