In Loving Memory Of Anna Dispalatro Capocciama
February 8, 1926 August 26, 2024
Anna (Dispalatro) Capocciama, passed away on August 26, 2024, in Newport Beach, California. She was 98, born on February 8, 1926, in Anaheim, California. Anna was the child of Paul and Elizabeth (Lemme) Dispalatro, who immigrated to the United States from Vasto, Italy. Being a pious family, they instilled in her the importance of family, working hard, helping others, and having faith in the Lord.
Anna lived her entire life in Huntington Beach and graduated from Huntington Beach High School, Class of 1944. Anna met her husband, Joseph, in 1946 when he, his parents, and a few friends came from Los Angeles to visit friends in Huntington Beach. Joseph and Anna were married on July 27, 1947, at Sts. Simon & Jude Church, previously located in the downtown area of Huntington Beach (now St. Marys by the Sea). This marked the beginning of her 72-year marriage.
Anna is survived by four of her five children: JoAnn Thompson, Frank Capocciama, Paul Capocciama, and Michelle (Paul) Kinney, 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Capocciama; son, John Capocciama; grandchild, Christopher Hunt; and great-grandchild, Brody Hoskins.
Whether you were a stranger or a friend, Anna had the gift of gab and loved to share the most interesting stories of her time growing up in "old" Huntington Beach. She worked as a bookkeeper, waitress, construction business partner, silk screener, and landlord. Even at 98, she kept up with technology and looked for creative ways to recycle and reuse everything. If you asked for her advice, you would receive her opinion. She had a caring heart and was always willing to help those in need. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, friends, and neighbors.
