John Anthony Capocciama, 88, a kind gentle soul of Clairton, peacefully went to the lord Dec. 10, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
John was born on Aug. 1, 1937, to the late Patsy & Anna (Pholar) Capocciama.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Patelis and brother, Donato “Dan” Capocciama.
A lifelong resident of Clairton, a city he was so proud of. He graduated from Clairton High School going on to earn his Masters & CCC certification in Speech & Language Pathology from California University. This led to a 30-year career with the AIU and being known as “Mr. C” to many of the students in the Mon Valley area.
Holding many interests, John focused on his Antiques as his main hobby, which gave him the opportunity to meet many wonderful people including his forever love.
John is survived by his wife, Susan “Suzy” Capocciama; his children, Caroline Spahr & Craig Spahr that he loved as his own; nieces & nephews, Lynn, Colleta, George, Jason, Pete and Tony; lifelong special friend, Margaret Sue; along with many others, who loving was their "Uncle Johnny.
"We would like to thank the families of the DiCarlo’s, Pholar’s, McCormley’s, Recker’s, Hrbek’s and Myer’s who loving made Johnny their own.
If you knew John he would want everyone to be kind, gentle and laugh. His simplistic ways are what brought so much joy to many.
A visitation will be held on December 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on December 15, 2025, from 8:15 AM to 9:15 AM at the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home located at 1701 State Route 51, Jefferson Hills, PA. A prayer service will follow on December 15th at 9:15 AM, at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Thomas A' Becket Church, located at 139 Gill Hall Rd, Clairton, PA.
