Rutland, VT. - Anna Mary Carruth, passed away at the Rutland Health and Rehabilitation Center in Rutland on Monday, September 11th, 2023.
Anna was preceded by her husband Harry Carruth, her son Richard Barker Jr., her parents Stephen and Dorothy Vladka, brother Stephen Vladyka, and sister Gloria (Vladyka) Rich.
She is survived by her sons Shane Carruth of Williston, VT and Charles and his wife Mellisa Barker of Shrewsbury and their children, Sarah Barker, Jade Johnson, and Nicole Barker and her children Emmitt and Harper. Anna is also survived by her sister Shirley Poalino of Fair Haven, VT, her brothers Larry Vladyka and his wife Shirley of Benson, VT and Joe Vladyka of Florida.
Anna was born on Dec.26, 1941 in Hampton, NY and grew up on the family farm in Hampton with her parents, brothers, and sisters. She graduated Whitehall High School and Married Richard Barker Sr. of Hubbardton, VT. Anna had two children with Richard, Richard Jr. and Charles. Anna later married Harry Carruth of Shrewsbury, they had one son Shane.
Anna was a devoted wife and mother, who spent most of her years as a housewife caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and pets. Anna ran a day care in Shrewsbury and cared for many children in town. Anna was a kindhearted and compassionate woman who always put the needs of others above her own. She was also a great cook, often making amazing dishes from the abundant wild game and fish that her husband Harry brought home.
Anna loved weekend family reunions at her parents' home in Castleton, VT and at her beloved sister Gloria and brother-in-law, Wayne Rich's home in Fort Ann, NY.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 22 at St. Mary's Cemetery on 67 Washington Street in Fair Haven Vermont.
The family recommends that in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in Anna's memory to the Rutland County Humane Society at 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763.
