Anna K. DeMay, 78, of Orange Park, FL, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025.
Born on March 23, 1946, in Pasadena, CA, Anna was the eldest of three children born to Vincent and Lillian Chiofolo. She grew up in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from Fourteen Holy Martyrs, Anna attended and graduated from Brooklyn College.
In 1966, Anna met Robert, and they married in 1968. They went on to have two daughters, Veronica and Christina, and the family eventually settled in Orange Park. Over the years, Anna worked at Macy's Flagship Store in NYC, as a teacher, and at The Sisters Tea Room, but her loving commitment to family remained her primary focus.
A gifted artist and accomplished writer, Anna's poetry was published in various journals and earned multiple awards. In addition, she was an active member of the Kalliope Writers' Collective. Her love of learning and passion for written word led her to earn a master's degree in English Literature from the University of North Florida in 1998.
Anna devotedly cared for her husband in his later years, a role she took on with great love and compassion.
Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. DeMay; her parents; and her brothers, Anthony and Joseph Chiofolo. She is survived by her daughters, Veronica (David) Jones and Christina (Brian) Lightsey, and three grandchildren, Emily, Madeline, and Kate.
Anna will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 17th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena on Tuesday, March 18th at 11:00 a.m. Anna will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
