Anna Belle Mazurek
Died November 6, 2025
CEDAR - Anna Belle Mazurek, 103, of Cedar, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Maple Valley Nursing Home with her daughters at her side.
Ann was born July 29, 1922 on the Garvin family farm on the shores of Lake Leelanau, the daughter of John and Susan (Radke) Garvin. On June 22, 1946 she married Edward Mazurek who returned from WWII service after surviving the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Ed and Ann lived on a farm south of Cedar where they had a sweet cherry orchard for 40 years and earlier raised beef cattle, potatoes, wheat, corn, oats and hay. Ed preceded Ann in death in 1997.
Ann was among the most generous of women. Whenever saying goodbye to family or friends it was with lovely flowers or fresh vegetables from her huge gardens or a warm loaf of bread or cinnamon rolls from the oven. She inspired the Cedar Plant Sale. Nearly every plant sold started with Ann, many handed down from her parents and on to her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her garden hoe has worn down over the years to 2" x 3". Her legacy continues throughout the county wherever flowers bloom.
She was also an avid fan of polka music – dancing the polka at the Cedar Polka Fest into her 100's. Every week she watched Mollie B, Polka Joe and Jimmy Sturr on TV. For years she attended the Saturday night dances at the TC Senior Center.
She was a life-long active member of Holy Rosary Church and was the oldest member of the Women's Clubs and participated in all their activities.
Ann is survived by her two daughters, Beverly "BJ" (Tom) Christensen of Cedar, and Judith (John) Eichstadt of Glen Arbor; two grandsons, Chris (Charlotte) Christensen of Ada, and Joel (Annalisa) Christensen of Midland; and four great grandchildren, Alex (Tandra), Jake, Rachel, and Luke. Ann always loved gatherings with loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings: Steven, Gertrude "Trudy", Edward, Edmond "Butch", Andrew and John.
The Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15th with the family greeting friends at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church of Cedar. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Father Donald Libby will serve as celebrant.
Memorials may be directed to one or more of the following: Father Fred Food Pantry, 826 Hastings Street, Traverse City, MI 49684 and/or Cedar Fire and Rescue Association, PO Box 74, Cedar, MI 49621 and/or Holy Rosary Food Pantry, 6982 S. Schomberg Road, Cedar, MI 49621
